India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma is all set to undergo the Yo-Yo endurance test for England tour on Tuesday (June 19). As per the reports in India Today, Rohit had failed to cross the Yo-Yo hurdle twice during the recently concluded Indian Premier League and therefore Ajinkya Rahane has been put on standby in case his fellow Mumbaikar needs to be replaced.

With the fast approaching England tour, all the players picked for the limited-overs series are undergoing the Yo-Yo obstacle. Reports in India Today also suggest that Rohit is gearing up to take the test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He had taken prior permission from BCCI for it to be done on 19th.

Recently, Ambati Rayudu was left out from the India squad for England ODIs. Suresh Raina was called in as Rayudu’s replacement after the former cleared the fitness test. Before Rayudu, India speedster Mohammed Shami was omitted from the one-off Test against Afghanistan for the same reason. Delhi pacer Navdeep Saini had replaced Shami for the historic Test in Bangalore.

Moreover, Sanju Samson was dropped from India A squad for the tri-series in England involving England Lions and West Indies 'A'. Samson was replaced by Ishan Kishan in the touring squad.

In the last one year or so, Yo-Yo endurance test has created a lot of buzz in India’s cricketing circle as players such Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina were snubbed from the national limited-overs squad because of their failure in this very test.

It has been learnt that for the current Indian team, 16.1 and upwards was considered as the good enough ‘Yo-Yo’ score. A player ought to clock at least 16.1 in the test to be a part of Virat Kohli led national side.
