Sri Lankan Test Captain Dinesh Chandimal has denied the ball-tampering allegations put on him, for a suspectable moment in the ongoing Test at St. Lucia against West Indies. Live Television footage from the final session's play on Friday showed the captain taking sweets out from his left pocket and putting these in his mouth, before applying the artificial substance to the ball, Dinesh has denied these claims by pleading not guilty to the ICC offence.

International Cricket Council(ICC) issued a statement about the issue that reads, "Dinesh Chandimal has pleaded not guilty to breaching Article 2.2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct and, as such, Javagal Srinath of the Panel of ICC Match Referees will hold a hearing following the conclusion of the St Lucia Test against the Windies,"

On Saturday(16th June), the Sri Lankan team refused to come out on the ground resume play because of feeling injustice. The two umpires, Aleem Dar and Ian Gould, only informed them of the charge and put a five-run penalty just minutes before the scheduled start of play.

Lengthy discussions took place between the match referee and the Sri Lankan team management before finally, the team started fielding and the play took place.

Sri Lanka Cricket(SLC) in their official statement has stated full support for the players, as Dinesh formally denied the allegations by the match officials.
