West Indies B to take part in Global T20 Canada League

West Indies' main players are busy with other International assignments.

Global T20 Canada League will kick start this June

Cricket West Indies(CWI) has announced their squad which is due to take part in the Global T20 Canada League competition as the sixth team.

With their best players currently playing the Test series against Sri Lanka and then will feature in the upcoming series against Bangladesh at home in July. Also, West Indies A will be in England from this June till the end of the next month to play a List A triangular series that also includes India and then finish the tour with a few 4-day games. 

Hence, the selectors have announced a "B" team, filled with young players from domestic cricket, to take part in the league in Toronto that will be played alongside these assignments. 

Trinidad & Tobago wicketkeeper-batsman Nicholas Pooran, who features in the 14-man squad, said, “I want to thank CWI for this opportunity, although it’s not the senior team – it’s still an opportunity to represent region, Hope to use the tournament as good preparation for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) where I can lead from the front and stamp my authority with bat and have some consistent scores.”

Captain of this side travelling to Toronto, Anthony Bramblen was also quoted saying, “It’s a pleasure to lead CWI B team in the Global T20 tournament in Canada. I would like to thank the selectors for giving me such an opportunity to play in this tournament”

“For all player selected it’s a great opportunity to grab with both hands and make a mark. So I hope we can give good account as team, in a tournament full of big name players”
