ENG v AUS 2018: Happy to have played my favourite innings, says Jason Roy

England opener Jason Roy is delighted to have played, what he terms as "probably my favourite innings", against Australia on Saturday(16th June) at Cardiff.

Roy's brisk and stroke-filled innings of 120 from just 108 balls, helped England set up a huge target of 343 for their arch-rivals and eventually turned out to be the match-winning knock, as the home team won the game by 38 runs and now lead the series by an almost unassailable margin of 2-0 in the 5-match ODI series.

The right-hander won the man of the match award for his knock. He talked about his special innings after the match and said, "I had a long discussion with Thorpey (Graham Thorpe, England's batting coach) after I got out and just said it was probably my favourite innings as far as how my tempo was throughout the innings,"

"Just the way I knuckled down early, it was quite difficult and I went through some difficult patches but then came out the other side. Obviously I wanted to start expanding my game but unfortunately, I got out. But I was still happy nonetheless,"

Roy's form must be a real positive for the Eoin Morgan led England side, as he was going through a bad phase leading upto this match.

Roy further gave an insight on how he was absolutely determined to turn things around quickly and said, "It was a big aim for me to come after a long winter and to start well on home soil. Obviously, we had the hiccup against Scotland and then the first game I was a bit panicky, a bit wary, of where my game's at, but I put in a lot of hard work over the past few days and got a few rewards today."

Australia will now have to pull their socks up very quickly, as England, with people like Roy in form now, will look to seal the series at Trent Bridge on June 19.
