The captain of St Lucia Stars, Darren Sammy welcomes David Warner after the franchise roped in the Australian opener recently for the sixth edition of the CPL.

David Warner will get to feature in St Lucia Stars in this season of CPL, as he has replaced his Australian cricketer, D Arcy Short because of his further commitments to be in Australia-A squad for the tour of India at the same time.

The former Australian vice-captain, David Warner lost his position in the national squad after he was banned from playing International cricket for a period of one year but he was given liberty to play domestic cricket. Warner along with Steve Smith were involved in the ball-tampering scandal.

Mohammad Khan, Stars' General Manager, said: "We are excited to bring David to the Saint Lucia Stars. David is arguably one of the greatest batsman of the modern era and a winning player. He is going to add a lot of value on the field and in the dressing room as we pursue our first Hero CPL Title."

As soon as Darren Sammy got to know about David Warner's inclusion into the squad, he took Twitter to welcome the attacking Australian opening batsman. On his Twitter account, he wrote- Welcome on board champ. @davidwarner31

Earlier, the southpaw was selected to represent Winnipeg Hawks in the upcoming Global T20 Canada League. David Warner's presence will be really pivotal for St Lucia Stars as they are yet to win the title of CPL.

St Lucia Stars will play their first game of the 2018 edition against defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders on August 8.
