Dindigul Dragons and Ruby Trichy Warriors to open TNPL 2018

Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2018 will get underway on July 11 in Tirunelveli.

Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) has confirmed on Friday (15 June) that the opener of the third edition of the TNPL 2018 will be played between Dindigul Dragons and Ruby Trichy Warriors in Tirunelveli on 11 July.

On the other hand, the defending champions Chepauk Super Gillies will start their TNPL 2018 campaign against Trichy Warriors at the Chepauk on 14 July.

Tamil Nadu’s Round-robin league will feature eight teams and compete in 32 matches across three venues - ICL ground, NPR College Ground in Dindigul and the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai.

The TNPL will also have Playoffs like Indian Premier League that will begin from 7 August while the final of the tournament to be played at Chepauk on 22 August 2018.

According to a report in Cricbuzz, TNCA joint secretary RI Palani said, “It was decided to have a majority of the matches in Tirunelveli and Dindigul so as to provide more exposure to the next generation of players from the districts to high-quality cricket live.”

Meanwhile, the winners of the tournament will get prize money of INR 1 crore while the runners-up will bag INR 60 lakh. On the other hand, the third and fourth-placed teams will receive INR 40 lakh each.
