Tall right-arm fast bowler, Billy Stanlake has again come across a sudden injury to his body, with the news coming in that the Australian has suffered a cut on his toe and is a doubtful starter for the second ODI against England on Saturday at Cardiff.

Stanlake has been injury prone for a while for his side body takes a huge toll of his velocity. He recently went back home midway through his stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League because of a thumb injury on his bowling hand, too.

Stanlake ahead of the all-important match, with Australia being 1-0 down, was quoted saying to Cricket Australia's official website, "It just started off as an open wound on the top of my toe purely from bowling, It gradually got worse and worse. I couldn't walk on it, it got pretty serious. I was in hospital for four days and needed surgery"

Stanlake, who bowled a magnificent opening spell in his side's defense of the modest 214, and got the big wickets of Jason Roy and Joe Root with his figures reading 2 for 44 in the end, further said,  "I don't think I was that far off losing it. I think if (the infection) had gotten into the bone or the tendons, I might have been in some serious trouble,"

Stanlake couldn't take part in Australia's training session on Friday, which was specifically about the fitness and training under the watchful eyes of head coach Justin Langer.

In his absence, which is a big blow to the young Australian team led by Tim Paine, Jhye Richardson could be brought in as a replacement. While Australia would be much concerned about their batting after the poor showing at the Oval.
