One of the best fast-bowling allrounders of his time, Sir Richard Hadlee is currently going through some serious health issues. The shocking news has broken out that he is being diagnosed with a bowel cancer and has saddened New Zealand's greatest cricketer's lovers around the cricketing globe. Hadlee underwent an operation to remove a tumour after a routine colonoscopy last month. 

Good news, for now, is that Lady Dianne, his wife, has stated in a statement that the great man is expected to fully recover. 

The statement reads, “It is expected that, in time, he will have a full recovery, Our reasons for making this statement are a desire to be transparent, and to prevent the inevitable speculation and incorrect rumours. I would also request people’s understanding and acceptance of our request for privacy while we go through the next few months, both for ourselves and for the extended Hadlee family.”

Born on 3rd July and knighted in 1990 for services to cricket, Sir Richard Hadlee played 86 Tests and 115 one-day internationals for New Zealand, taking 589 wickets and is arguably the greatest cricketer of his generation. The former chairman of the New Zealand board of selectors was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2009 and was also chosen as the second greatest fast bowler of all time by Wisden in 2002. We all wish for his speedy recovery.
