The Asia Cup 2018 champions, Bangladesh Women’s Cricket Team, are all set to receive Taka 2 Crores as a prize from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), confirmed by the board on Monday (11 June).

On Sunday (10 June), Bangladesh Women’s defeated the six times champions India in the last-ball thriller final and etched their name in the history books by winning their maiden Asia Cup title in Malaysia.

Following the historic triumph, BCB decided to give them a fitting reward for their outstanding efforts in the prestigious tournament. The prize will be a huge financial boost for the women cricketers.

As per reports in Cricbuzz, BCB President Nazmul Hasan told reporters, “I cannot describe, in words, the joy we had on seeing them perform in this manner. They had worked really hard and their effort needs to be recognized. So we have decided to distribute Taka 2 Crores as prize money for the team.”

Meanwhile, the all-rounder Salma Khatun said, “Naturally it is a big incentive. It will not only boost our image but this kind of recognition will help the development of women's cricket in the country.”

Asia Cup triumph is really the biggest achievement for the Bangladesh Women’s team as it will open the door for many opportunities. Biren Sikder, Minister for Youth and Sports, has already declared to build a dedicated academy for the National Women’s team.

Sikder signed off by saying, “We are proud with their performance. We would create a dedicated academy for the women cricketers.”
