South Africa's ace pacer Dale Steyn, who picked up a heel injury during the Cape Town Test against India in January, has returned to the Proteas Test squad for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, starting on July 12.

On Monday (June 11), Cricket South Africa announced the 15-member squad which include three spinners in Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi and Shaun von Berg.

While Shamsi has played his one and only Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval in 2016; Titans' leg-spinner Shaun von Berg is yet to make his international debut.

Faf du Plessis will continue to lead the team that also have Hashim Amla, Temba Bavuma, Quinton de Kock, Theunis de Bruyn, Dean Elgar and Heinrich Klaasen in their ranks. Given the fact that AB de Villiers has called time on his international career last month, one of Theunis de Bruyn or Heinrich Klaasen can take his place in the playing XI.

The first Test between Sri Lanka and South Africa will be played at Galle International Stadium, Galle on July 12 while Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo will host the second Test from July 20.
