England stalwart James Anderson who has been in stellar form in the last one year, where he has averaged 19 for his wickets across 15 Test matches, will be missing the two four day games for Lancashire and will go through a rehabilitation on a long-standing right shoulder injury over the next six weeks, ahead of five Test matches against India. 

Anderson will be missing from Lancashire’s next two County Championship matches against Worcestershire at Blackfinch New Road (20 June) and the match against Hampshire on 25 June.

Trevor Bayliss, the England coach has been quoted saying about the issue on the England Cricket Board(ECB) website as, “We have five Tests against India in a six-week period from August 1, which will be an intense and challenging period for all our bowlers, and therefore it’s vital that we ensure Jimmy goes into that series in the best possible condition"

"Jimmy has to manage the issue with his right shoulder, and we’ve been advised that the best way for him to prepare for the India series is to take a six-week break from cricket now, initially to rest it and then to work slowly back to cricket"

“That six-week period covers Lancashire’s two Championship matches over the next three weeks. We will then monitor to see where Jimmy is at and ensuring he is ready for the India series.”

Anderson with his immense skillset is very important for England as it might just prove to be the decisive factor in an India-England Test series again and hence, they want him to be as ripe for the much-anticipated series as possible.
