Virender Sehwag has come out and stated who actually made one of the most important suggestions in Indian Cricket history. Everyone remembers the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup Final between India and Sri Lanka and how it became the night where India won the marquee event after 28 long years but people must always have a memory for the extremely brave decision that Mahendra Singh Dhoni took on the big night. Sehwag has actually revealed who suggested it.

Chasing a very stiff looking 275 at the Wankhede Stadium, India lost both Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag without a substantial start before Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir resurrected the innings with a fine partnership that took India to 114 before Virat got out.

This is when Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and specifically the out of form till then, skipper came out and played one of the most knocks of the tournament. He ended up scoring a 91* which, alongside Gautam Gambhir's 97, won India the match and the trophy.

But, it was the decision taken by the captain to send himself ahead of the in-form Yuvraj Singh on a big night, that really stood out for its bravery and astute analytics. MS Dhoni took this big decision but it is who gave the suggestion for it has not often talked about.

Recently in "What the duck" show hosted by the famous comedian Vikram Sathaye, Virender Sehwag revealed that it was actually Sachin Tendulkar who suggested this massive idea.

India's famous ODI opening pair was sitting together on the show, where Sehwag said, “So, that was also suggested by him and this was the first time he directly passed a message to MS, otherwise it always went through Lala (himself) and the result is in front of you, So, finally in between MS Dhoni came in and at that time Virat Kohli and Gautam were batting. So, he told MS, if righty gets out, then go for righty and lefty gets out, go for lefty. After saying this, he went to the bathroom and then back out. And then Virat Kohli got out and in place of him, MS Dhoni went for the batting, that’s why Yuvraj Singh didn’t play on number 4 despite being in good form,”
