Brendon McCullum, the former New Zealand skipper has come out and stated that Mike Hesson was such a picture of commitment and hard work for the team, while on his duty as a head coach for the national cricket team.  Hesson made a sudden announcement recently, one year before next year's World Cup in England, despite having a very successful stint with the darkhorse team of world cricket.

Brendon McCullum was recently quoted saying on NZ Herald as "Mike exemplified the 'team-first' attitude and left no stone unturned. I've witnessed his work ethic first hand and have seen the sacrifices he's made and can only say I have the utmost respect for what he's achieved."

McCullum has gone on to make a special remark in praise of the man, as he said, "I regard him as the best coach the Black Caps have ever had"

Hesson after his resignation was heard talking about his six-year stint with the team, where he got the chance to work with both Brendon McCullum and Kane Williamson as captains. He cherishes this, as he said, "Kane is a great leader and he has certainly evolved over the last few years — both as a leader and as a batsman. His game will go from strength to strength with more leadership and more responsibilities"

"I thoroughly enjoyed working with McCullum and he did a fantastic job with the team in Test cricket and then in the World Cup. That was perhaps the pinnacle point for New Zealand cricket. That was some amazing couple of months and Brendon played a huge part in that. For the team, he left at the right time and then Kane took over the responsibility"

This kind of mutual respect is what makes our cricket community such a beautiful and glorious place.
