Former Indian fast bowler Subroto Banerjee, who was also the bowling coach of the Arjun Tendulkar, who has broken into the India U-19 team for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour, is seeing the greatest future for the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar’s son in the game of cricket.

At just 18 years and 8 months of age, Arjun who is an all-rounder, along with supreme left arm bowling skills grabbed a lot of attention from many including Wasim Akram as compared to left-handed batting, has been named in the Under-19 squad for two four-day games in Sri Lanka next month.

Arjun, who is able to consistently bowl at 135 kmph,  represented Mumbai in the Under-14, Under-16 and Under-19 teams, but did not have much success in domestic One Day cricket, due to which he could not make it to the India 19 World Cup squad last year in New Zealand.

Banerjee believes that bright future lies ahead for Arjun and is confident that the pacer will certainly make himself a big name in the world in the game of cricket, saying it’s just beginning over his India U19 selection for Lanka tour.

He told India Today, “I am very very happy for him. When he began succeeding as a fast bowler, Sachin asked me to have a look at him and I worked with me for two and half years. He was giving everything he had. I am not surprised with his selection. He gets a very good shape and the ball travels. This is just the beginning.”

Earlier this year, Arjun sidelined from Mumbai Cricket Associations' inaugural Mumbai T20 league with back injuries that he sustained while working on a remodeled action, and his coach says it was all because of his sharp growth.

Banerjee signed off by saying, “He's had back issues because of his sharp growth. He was getting taller and taller and the way bones react. But he is past it now and it's settled.”
