Rashid Khan elated after leading Afghanistan to a series win against Bangladesh

Rashid's four-wicket haul helped Afghanistan limit Bangladesh to 134 for 8.

Known as the best wrist spinner in the shortest format of the game, Rashid Khan of Afghanistan once again delivered to lead Afghanistan beat Bangladesh to seal the three-match T20 series 2-0. Rashid Khan was awarded the Man of the Match as they thrash Bangladesh by 6 wickets in Dehradun, Uttrakhand.

Rashid Khan's four-wicket haul assisted Afghanistan to restrict Bangladesh to a score of just 134 runs in their 20 overs. Samiullah Shenwari and Mohammad Nabi came up good with the bat, scoring 49 and 31* respectively.

The young 19-year old star of Afghanistan was given the man of the match award for his brilliant performance, earlier also he took three wickets in the first game of the series.

“This is what the team expects (from me),” said the star leg-spinner in the post-match presentation. “This is the plan given to me, to bowl in the middle and end overs. I was mentally ready and wanted to bowl in the good-length areas.

Rashid Khan broke the backbone of Bangladesh's batting line-up by taking Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal, Mosaddek Hossain and Soumya Sarkar wickets.

“It was crucial, the wickets of Shakib (Al Hasan), Tamim (Iqbal), Mosaddek (Hossain) and Soumya (Sarkar). They are key players. We know how good they are, so we wanted to keep things simple and focus on the basics" the young leg-spinner noted.

It was a decent batting performance from Afghanistan team, every batsman chipped in with few runs to take their side on the right side of the match.

"Thanks to the crowd for their support in the two games. Hope to see the same for the third game as well," Rashid signed off.

The last T20 match in Dehradun between the two nations will be played on this coming Thursday.
