AB de Villiers is adored and admired by masses all across the globe and it can be seen from his presence in a particular country. It’s been two weeks since De Villiers called time on his illustrious cricket career, but the decision hasn’t sunk in yet for his ardent fans.

Free from all sorts of cricket commitments, AB de Villiers on Wednesday (June 6) met one of his over-enthusiastic supporters at his home in Pretoria. As per the reports in IOL, a 14-year-old boy named ‘Leon Sadle’ was heartbroken after AB’s retirement but the Proteas batting genius made him cheerful by giving a surprise visit to his house.

“I just went blank. My heart started pacing I couldn’t understand what he was doing at my house. I think I lost my mind for a second there,” an overexcited Leon quoted as saying by IOL.

The mastermind behind the meeting was Leon’s mother Elsabe, who wrote to Jacaranda FM about Leon being distressed after De Villiers’ shocking retirement.

“When I told him AB retired he didn’t believe it and burst into tears,” Leon’s mother said.

Seeing her son in such pain prompted his mom to do damage control. Luckily enough the stars were aligned and De Villiers agreed. But it was a surprise.

Leon was told that he was picked to speak on a documentary highlighting De Villiers’ stellar career. Right in the middle of the interview AB walked in and spoke about the beautiful game with Leon Sadle. They also went outside in the backyard where De Villiers gave the young fan a Protea cap and signed an autograph bat for him.

“Leon knows his cricket. Besides being a well informed cricketer, I see in him a genuinely nice human being who is humble. He must keep up with this attitude it he wants to play pro,” De Villiers stated.

AB also shared a picture of his meet-up with Leo on social photo site Instagram.

“Great to meet Leo Sadler... A young man with a big heart and plenty of character. Full story on Breakfast with Martin Bester @jacarandafm ....#jacabreakfast” De Villiers captioned the image.
