If things go well, England and Ireland will be seen playing a four day Test match at the home of cricket, Lord’s in 2019. The proposal will be put to the England and Wales Cricket Board's cricket committee and discussed at board level.

Accordign to a report by BBC.com, the slot for the Test match has been created between the completion of 2019 World Cup and the 2019 Ashes series against Australia.

Ireland recently played their maiden Test match against Pakistan at home in Malahide ground, losing to the visitors by 5 wickets despite a standout performance. Ireland and Afghanistan were given Test status by the ICC in June of 2017 and Afghanistan will play their maiden Test against India in June of this year.

The International Cricket Council approved four day Tests on a trial basis in October 2017 and the first four-day match was played between South Africa and Zimbabwe in December, which was won by South Africa inside four days.

England last played a Test match fewer than five days during their tour to New Zealand in 1971.
