England all-rounder Ben Stokes will have to pass the fitness test before being cleared to play in the second Test against Pakistan at Headingley on Friday (June 1).
Stokes picked up the injury while fielding during a practice session on Wednesday (May 30) and did not bowl afterwards. Subsequently, Surrey’s left-arm swing bowler Sam Curran was drafted into the England squad as cover for Stokes.
Updating on Stokes’ injury, the official Twitter account of England Cricket on Thursday (31) wrote: "Ben Stokes has been running at full intensity this morning [Thursday] and batting in the nets."
"He will have a scan on his hamstring later today and is expected to have a fitness test tomorrow morning," the tweet further read.
Earlier, it is also reported that Stokes might participate in the Leeds Test as a specialist batsman. The 26-year-old averages nearly 35 with the bat in red-ball cricket.
