Washington Sundar and Ravichandran Ashwin are set to play Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2018. As per the latest TNPL draft, Sundar will be available for the rest of the season after they miss the first few games.
Indian cricketers who will travel to England only for limited overs series will return after 17th July and Sundar will be among them. He can take part in the Tamil Nadu based T20 league.
"I won't be available for the first two matches, after that I'm pretty sure I'll be available for the rest of the tournament," Washington said during the draft.
Ravichandran Ashwin will only be available for first few games as he is expected to be picked for Indian Test side for England tour. He is the captain of team Dindigul Dragons and in his absence, Narayan Jagadeesan will take-over the leadership role.
"Ashwin will be available for first few games, after that he has national duties. Not aware of the exact dates, but certainly for the first few games, he'll be available. Ashwin is our captain and Jagadeesan our vice-captain. He (Jagadeesan) will take-over as the captain when Ashwin leaves," Dragons' owner revealed.
Dinesh Karthik's availability for the T20 league isn't clear as he may play both limited overs series and Test series. If he gets ignored from the Test side, then there is a possibility of him getting featured in TNPL. The wicket-keeper will play for Karaikudi Kaalai.
"We initially thought that we'll be going in with four capped players. When others went for all the best options, so we thought that even if not this year, then next year he (Karthik) can play for us and it would be good to have him during sessions. Our captain, most probably, would be Anirudha Srikanth (in Karthik's absence)," Kaalai owner said.
