Rashid Khan speaks on his ever-growing popularity as a young cricketer

Young Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan is only 19 but has huge fan following across the world because of his brilliant and consistent spin bowling, declaring himself as the second most famous personality in his country after Prime Minister Ashraf Ghani.

Rashid, who finished as one of the best performers in the recently concluded IPL 2018 with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), is a talented spinner and considered as one of the most lethal spinners in recent times has got a lot of fame participating in the franchise tournaments across the globe.

However, Rashid, who has recently been adjudged the best T20 bowler at the Ceat Awards, hogged the headlines since making international debut for Afghanistan at a very young age in 2015.

But, the young spin sensation got superfluous limelight since taking part in the mega T20 events likes of Indian Premier League (IPL), and Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL).

Now, the 19-year-old leg-spinner has become a household name across the world, and it might be difficult for him to handle it, but Rashid doesn’t feel any difference and doesn’t want to do to something extraordinary to maintain his popularity

In an exclusive interview with India TV, Rashid said, “No difference do just to be simple and how I was like before just to be the same. My followers are increasing day by day and I don’t think so that I should need to do something.”

On being asked whether he enjoys the same status in Afghanistan that top cricketers enjoy in India, Rashid replied shyly, “As far as I know, after the President of the country, maybe, I am the person who is most popular in Afghanistan.”

He also termed wickets of Virat (Kohli), AB (de Villiers) and MS Dhoni as the best wickets and memorable of his career so far, as they are really good players of spin bowling.

Commenting on their maiden Test in India next month, Rashid said, “I think it’s a bigger opportunity for everyone to perform well and be a superstar. Against India and performing in India is a big chance for every player to give his 100 percent.”

Revealing secrete behind his success in the T20 cricket, the leg-spinner says it been all about the ability to stay patient and confident even when batsmen are going after him.

Rashid signed off by saying, “T20s is all about enjoying yourself. The more you enjoy, the better you will perform. The moment you let fear get the better of you, you are in trouble.”
