The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced on Tuesday (29 May) a 16-man squad for the upcoming T20 International series against Bangladesh to be held at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun from 3 June 2018.
It will be the first ever bilateral T20I series between Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Originally, the series was scheduled to be a One Day series, but it had to alter bearing in mind the upcoming 2020 World T20. All the T20Is will be played in Dehradun on 3rd, 5th and 7th of June respectively.
The 16-man squad will lead by the experienced Asghar Stanikzai against the Tigers. In the Afghanistan squad, there are also Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who have been phenomenal in the IPL 2018 and they would certainly like to replicate that show in the Bangladesh T20Is.
Afghanistan also recalled Najib Tarakai for the T20Is nearly 15 months as the opening batsman last played for the national side against Ireland in March 2017.
Meanwhile, Darwish Rasooli has also earned a spot in the T20I squad because of his solid domestic performance and his outstanding outing in the U19 World Cup 2017.
On the other hand, Afghanistan gave the responsibility of the fast-bowling department to the left-arm pacer Shapoor Zadran and Aftab Alam.
