Virat Kohli named ‘International Cricketer of the Year’ at CEAT Cricket Ratings awards

India captain Virat Kohli was named ‘International Cricketer of the Year’ at the prestigious CEAT Cricket Ratings award ceremony in Mumbai on Monday (May 28).

Kohli, who led India to the historic limited-overs series win in South Africa earlier this year, had an outstanding last season with the bat. He had also won the ICC Cricketer of the year award in January 2018.

India’s left-handed opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan was bestowed with the ‘International Batsman of the Year Award’ in the same ceremony, whereas New Zealand speedster Trent Boult won the ‘International Bowler of the Year Award’.

Afghanistan's leg-spin sensation Rashid Khan, who finished the IPL 2018 as the second highest wicket-taker with 21 scalps from 17 matches, was presented with the ‘T20 Bowler of the Year Award’. On the other hand, New Zealand's hard-hitting opener Colin Munro won the ‘T20 Batsman of the Year Award’.

Indian women’s T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who has grabbed the headlines for her jaw-dropping 171* against Australia in the semi-final of ICC Women’s World Cup last year, deservedly won the ‘Outstanding Innings of the Year Award’.

Karnataka batsman Mayank Agarwal, who had a dream run in the 2017-18 domestic season, was honored with the ‘Domestic Player of the Year Award’. Legendary India batsman Dilip Vengsarkar presented the award to young Agarwal.

Shubhman Gill, who became the talk of the town for his consistent performances in the 2018 Youth World Cup, was named the ‘U19 Player of the Year’.

Swashbuckling West Indian batsman Chris Gayle was presented with the Popular Choice Award. The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to former India wicketkeeper Farokh Engineer.
