Yorkshire Vikings took on Worcestershire Rapids in the Royal London one-day Cup home match. Though Yorkshire lost this match, India’s Cheteshwar Pujara shined with a blazing century in a record chase.

Worcestershire batted first and put on 350/6 with Travis Head making 77, Joe Clarke’s 61, Ross Whiteley’s 66* and Ben Cox’s 50 being the other notable scores in their innings. 122 runs came off the last 10 overs for Worcester, who ensured Yorkshire conceded their second highest List A total having been invited to bat. Steven Patterson was the pick of Yorkshire bowlers with figures of 2/54.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore’s 89 with 3 sixes and 7 fours kick-started Yorkshire’s chase for a record overhaul. But it was Yorkshire’s Indian import Cheteshwar Pujara, who slammed 101 in 94 balls with 10 fours and 1 six, that took Yorkshire close to the total. Tom Kohler-Cadmore added 72 for opening stand with Adam Lyth and 101 with Pujara to give impetus to Yorkshire’s innings.

Pujara completed his century off 92 balls following fifties against Durham and Warwickshire, but wickets tumbled quickly in the search for quick runs. Pujara was caught at deep mid-wicket off Ed Barnard with Yorkshire 258/6 in the 43rd over.

Andrew Hodd needed to hit a six off the last ball but could only manage a single having smashed the previous delivery for a maximum. Worcestershire won the match by 4 runs.
