Rajasthan Royals’ mentor Shane Warne has lashed out at his batters, especially middle-order for their “disappointing” display in the Eliminator of the IPL 2018 against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Wednesday (23 May), where they drastically failed to hit the bowlers and even wasted many deliveries.

Aussie spin great blasted especially his batters, saying they “should be got over the line” against the KKR, and qualify for the final Qualifiers of the IPL 2018, as it was really not a tough target at Kolkata wicket.

At Eden Gardens, Royals had a brilliant start as they have picked up four wickets conceding 51 runs inside eight overs, but Dinesh Karthik (52) and Andre Russell (49*) rescued the KKR to post a competitive total 169-7 on the board. Chasing 170, RR also started well with Ajinkya Rahane (46) and Sanju Samson (50), but Kolkata's spin duo Kuldeep Yadav (1-18) and Piyush Chawla (2-24) did not leave any chance to score runs, conceding only 42 runs in their eight overs to pouring water on their chances in the IPL 2018.

After the end of the match, Warne, who was not with RR because of some technical issues in his traveling from Australia, went on social media to express his disappointment over his team’s poor display against the KKR in a very crucial encounter of the IPL 2018.

He wrote on his Twitter handle, “What a disappointing end this is, wasted too many balls & didn’t take the game on in the middle. That game was there to win & the boys should have got over the line ! Very proud of the entire squad though as they tried their best! Just hurts as that’s a game we should have won !”

With the 25-runs win over Royals at home, Kolkata will now play Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final qualifier of the IPL 2018 on Friday  (25 May) at Eden Gardens.
