Sachin Tendulkar, the former Indian cricketing legend has come out and stated that he is proud of the way India has started to be a sports-loving country but the great man feels it is time for the nation to transform itself into a sports playing one.

The legend has been doing various works for the betterment of our society, and his new plan is to promote the Sports for All initiative.

He was recently quoted as saying on TOI that, "I always mention that India should become a sports-playing nation. We are a sports-loving nation but we need that transformation where we start playing. Healthy competition is always good,"

The master blaster wants a physically fit India, and he sees sports as the medium for it.

"Physical fitness and mental fitness combined together makes a healthy man. I remember when I was a kid, my grandmother telling me health is wealth,"

Tendulkar was speaking in the Seawoods Grand Central Mall inaugurating the SMAAASH centre and he heard the crowd chanting Sachin-Sachin. To which the Bharat Ratna replied, "It feels like to be back in the stadium,"

"To lead an active lifestyle is really important. I just want to tell you that adopt some or the other sport and play regularly. It is going to keep you fit and healthy. Fit and healthy India will have more reasons to smile,"
