Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) head coach Jacques Kallis has stressed on the need to replicate more of their last Eden Gardens’ dazzling display against the table-topper Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to make it to the IPL 2018 playoffs when they will face each other in Hyderabad on Saturday (19 May).

On 15 May (Tuesday), the Men in Yellow were quite behind the Rajasthan Royals after conceding 59 runs in the first four overs at home, but they brilliantly bounced back in the game, and returned as match-winner with all-round display in their last IPL 2018 encounter in Kolkata.

Now, KKR has 14 points having won 7 matches of their 13, and just needs to beat the SRH to gain 2 points to 2 to qualify for the Playoffs, in case, if they fail then it will make things difficult for the former IPL champions, as there are four other teams who are also in the contention for the top-four.

As per reports in Hindustan Times, Kallis told reporters on the eve of Hyderabad’s match, “Our biggest gain from the last game was the way we came back after Rajasthan reached 59/0 in four overs. The guys showed character and stuck in under pressure. That’s what pleased me the most about the way they went about the business. We are going to need a lot of it tomorrow.”

On SRH, the KKR coach said, “The equation is simple for us. If we win against SRH, we are through. They have played some good cricket throughout under Kane Williamson’s leadership. They are assured of a top-two finish in the league stages. They will do us no favors tomorrow and we aren’t expecting anything either. We will try to give our best against them.”

Kallis signed off by saying, “Mentally we are not thinking too much. The guys know their roles and how to go about it. We need bit of luck on the day and with the combination of good cricket we will hopefully do well. It’s a must-win game and the team needs to put up a competitive performance to make it to the playoffs.”
