Mark Waugh, the former Australian batsman, has come out and stated that he feels Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) and its denial to play the traditional Day/Night Test match in Adelaide this Australian summer, makes India come across as very selfish looking with their endeavours.

The BCCI has made it clear that the Indian Team management, led by the head coach Ravi Shastri and captain Virat Kohli, has informed the board that they aren't fully prepared yet to play a pink ball Test under-lights. Hence, they feel playing the first Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy under-lights will be giving away the massive advantage to their opponent.

Waugh, who perhaps picked selfish over the more adequate conservative, was quoted saying about the whole issue on the Sky Radio as, “It’s a little bit selfish from India’s point of view because we need to revitalize Test cricket, Day-night Test cricket in some countries is going to be one of those ingredients that could transform Test cricket back to where it should be.”

Australia has won all the four Day/Night Tests they've played at home. India and Bangladesh are the only two teams to have not played a pink-ball Test match.

Mark Waugh further said, “Their team is pretty well suited to day-night cricket, they’ve got a string of fast bowlers, so they don’t just rely on the spinners and their batsman are technically very good as well, So for the greater good of the game, I would have loved to have seen that as a day-night Test.”
