Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) desperate hunt for a suitable Head Coach has not come to an end since the exit of Chandika Hathurusingha from the top post last year.

Although, the BCB officials have made every possible effort to convince the South Africa great Gary Kirsten to take up the top role, he has just agreed to work as the Bangladesh team consultant.

On Tuesday (15 May), BCB president Nazmul Hassan has said that appointment of Kirsten as a consultant is in the final stage, and the World Cup-winning coach will recommend and direct the BCB officials regarding choosing the coach for the side at the various levels.

He also said that the former India coach is already started working with BCB, and Gary is expected to be in Bangladesh by 20 May, as it all depends on whether his IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore qualify for the in the ongoing IPL 2018 playoffs.

As per reports in The Daily Star, Hassan said, “We have already confirmed Kirsten’s appointment. It is in the final stages. He is already working for us. Kirsten will help us work out which coaches will work in what specific roles, and that includes the head coach role of the national side.”

BCB chief signed off by saying, “We will hand over a list of new coaches to him. He will also hand us a list of his own. We will then sit down with him to discuss the coaching roles for Bangladesh cricket.”
