James Faulkner, the Australian all-rounder, has come out and announced that he will be playing for a new team in this year's Big Bash League(BBL). Faulkner who use to play for the Melbourne Stars till now, will move on and play for Hobart Hurricanes. 

The 28-year-old cricketer played for Melbourne Stars for five straight seasons and has now signed a three year deal with the club from Tasmania. The main aim of the player is to rejuvenate his stagnating career, where his dip in form has resulted in him being dropped from the Australian limited overs squads. Faulkner was Australia's key player at the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2015 and even won the man of the match in the final where Aussies won. 

James Faulkner was recently quoted saying to the media that, "I had always hoped to return to playing all my cricket in Tasmania when the time was right, I really love the feeling around the team now and I'm impressed by the culture they've managed to build. I think the state is going from strength to strength, and that was a big part of my decision to come home, play alongside my mates and enjoy all my home domestic cricket formats here"

"I want to thank the Melbourne Stars for everything they've done for me over the last seven years, they were very supportive of me when I was playing with Australia and I've loved every minute with them."

Nick Cummins, Cricket Tasmania chief executive, also talked about this development and said, "We are pleased to finally have the opportunity to work with him for a full 12 months of the year and help him get back into the Australian squad, the fact he is a Tassie cricketer makes it all the better and he holds a fantastic record in the Big Bash, IPL and at the T20 International level."

James Faulkner played 47 games for the Melbourne Stars and scored 556 runs at a strike rate of 109.45 and average of 26.48, while also taking 45 wickets.
