If reports in ESPN Cricinfo are to be believed, Ravichandran Ashwin will be available for Worcestershire's County Championship campaign for the final two Championship matches of the 2018 season: Essex away and Yorkshire at home.

Ashwin will be replacing Travis Head in the playing XI as an overseas recruitment. He played four Championship games for the club in 2017, claiming 20 wickets at an average of 29.15 as well as averaging 42.50 with the bat. Worcestershire won all four games to ensure both the Division Two title and promotion.

However, BCCI is yet to give its green signal on Ashwin's case, but with the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ishant Sharma playing county cricket currently with BCCI's back up, there is no reason why they will not agree on Ashwin's case.

Ashwin is currently leading Kings XI Punjab in the ongoing IPL season and is lined up to play an important game against KKR in Indore. Kings XI are currently placed third in the points table and potentially needs to win at least two of their matches for a playoff qualification.
