We have a good pool of wicketkeepers to replace MS Dhoni in future: MSK Prasad

One of the key features of the IPL has been the success of young Indian wicketkeepers. The likes of Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson has grabbed the eyeballs of the Indian selectors. 

MSK Prasad in a recent media interaction after announcing the Indian squad for the UK and the Afghanistan series said that India have a good pool of wicketkeepers ready to take MS Dhoni's place post his retirement. 

The likes of Dinesh  Karthik and Parthiv Patel are the other two prominent names which are there in the circumference of the Indian tour. 

Prasad revealed the committee is keen on identifying potential successors for MS Dhoni, who is expected to retire after the 2019 Cricket World Cup. The former India captain, as expected, was included in both the ODI and T20I teams for the England tour, starting July 3 in Manchester. 

Samson has scored 332 runs this season so far while Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan has scored 393 and 238 runs respectively. 

MS Dhoni played 90 Test matches before he retired in 2014. He stands at 318 ODIs and 89 T20Is for India currently.  As far as his stats in this IPL season is concerned, MS Dhoni has scored 360 runs at an average of 90 and a strike rate of nearly 166. He has hit  19 fours and 27 sixes so far in the tournament. 

As a captain as well, has MS Dhoni flourished coming back into his familiar yellow jersey for Chennai Super Kings.
