Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) Chairman Atif Mashal has confirmed on Wednesday (9 May) that they will host Bangladesh in Dehradun for the three-match T20 Internationals next month.

Dehradun’s Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium will host the T20I day-night fixtures, which is scheduled to start from 3 June followed by second on 5 and the final on 7 June 2018. Following the Bangladesh series, Afghanistan will take on India in their maiden Test in Bengaluru on June 14.

As per reports in Press Trust of India, Mashal said about the development, “ACB is delighted to host Bangladesh for the T20I series in Dehradun in early June which will be a good opportunity for both sides to play competitive cricket.”

ACB chief further added, “Similarly, cricket fans have also previously enjoyed games between the two sides and this will be yet another opportunity for them to witness their sides play against each other.”

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury stated on the same, “Afghanistan have some fine players for this format and they will have the advantage of familiarity with the conditions in Dehradun. However, the Bangladesh team is a confident and experienced unit and we are really looking forward to the matches.”

Previously, Afghanistan has only played Bangladesh once in the shortest format of the game at the 2014 ICC World Twenty20.
