Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) win-loss record isn’t great against the Mumbai Indians (MI) and that will be at the back of their mind when they take on the Mumbai Indians tonight at the Eden Gardens. 

So far, KKR have won only 6 of 22 encounters against the MI in the Indian Premier League (IPL), though Lynn also admitted there was ‘a bit of a jinx’, but the Australian says the Yellow Army is ready for the challenge when they play Rohit Sharma and his team on Wednesday (9 May) at home.

As per reports in Wisden India, Lynn said in Kolkata, “Yeah, I don’t know, there’s a bit of a jinx going on there. I think you look at the teams every couple of years and there are new squads put out, so it’s hard to say. Yes, the win-loss record isn’t great against them but it hasn’t been the same team each year. But we’re going to try and get one back tomorrow night. We definitely owe them one.”

He further added, “We feel like we could have won that game the other night (on May 6), so we let that one slip a little bit. It’s a good challenge for us tomorrow night because if we don’t get the win, we’re going to put ourselves under a lot of pressure with the last three games. We don’t want that – even though we play every game as if it’s a final, we try and make it as comfortable as possible.”

On his shoulder that he injured when he fell awkwardly playing Tri-series in Auckland, the 28-year-old replied, “The shoulder is certainly not a 100 percent, but it’s where I’m comfortable playing and feeling more confident. For me batting is not an issue at all, that’s the first and foremost priority. Obviously, in the field, I’m not fielding in the positions I would want to, I’m a little bit restricted there.”

Lynn signed off by saying, “But at the end of the day, if I score more runs than I let through on the field then I’m doing my job. But in terms of batting, it’s not an issue. I’m feeling more comfortable every game I play and I think a big score’s just around the corner.”
