The Pakistan Super League 2018 was a big success for the Pakistan Cricket Board with the playoffs and final happening in Pakistan. However, the occasion was marred a bit by many foreign players not traveling to Pakistan owing to family concerns.

To avoid such an embarrassment in future, PSL owners have decided that a player will only be included in PSL draft if he is willing to travel to Pakistan. This condition will be levied from the next edition of the tournament. The rule was made mandatory after few players decided not to travel Pakistan, for the second running year. Also, no extra payment will be made to foreign players, who are willing to come to Pakistan for PSL matches.

The final of PSL 2018 was played in Pakistan under heavy security cover with players like David Malan, Marlon Samuels, Darren Sammy, Chris Jordan, Morne van Wyk, Sean Ervine and few others traveling to the country. However, big names such as Eoin Morgan, Kevin Pietersen, Luke Wright, Rilee Rossouw, Tymal Mills and Nathan McCullum opted not to come to Pakistan.

With players backing out at crucial stages, resulting in creating big issues for the team owners, they decided not to include those players in PSL draft who are not willing to travel to the country. Also, the owners decided not to pay extra money to foreign players who visit Pakistan for PSL.

Apart from PSL owners, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also lured cricketers, in past, to make them pay a visit to the country. Windies’ players were offered big pay cheques to travel to Pakistan.

In good news for PCB, New Zealand cricket board is giving the prospect of making their first tour to Pakistan since 2003. However, in a big setback, Cricket Australia has refused to tour Pakistan for any series.
