Lungi Ngidi, the South African fast bowler, who impressed everyone on his debut test versus India recently by troubling the likes of Virat Kohli, Murli Vijay, and Cheteshwar Pujara, has stated that he wants to have a very long international career for South Africa. 

He was quoted saying about the same to the ICC website that, "I've still got years ahead of me. The first thing that I'd like to do is make sure my career's very long. At the moment, I just want to keep the ball rolling. I've got some good momentum behind me," 

Ngidi remembers his debut test like it was yesterday. Picked to play the second test of the Test series against India, the 22-year-old picked 6 wickets in Centurion to help South Africa seal the Test series. 

He said, "You wouldn't expect something like that to happen on your debut. First of all, you're just trying to get through the day. But to be able to perform like that, it helped me realize what I am capable of doing if I put my mind to it. I couldn't have asked for a better debut and I look back on it now and I still think it's a dream. I'm still struggling to let it sink in," 

With him and Kagiso Rabada being two exceptional young fast bowlers, the future of South African fast bowling, especially as they approach an era that is likely to be without Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel, seems bright. 

Lungi Ngidi is very excited about the prospect of being the Proteas's key player and feels he is up for it. He said, "Just having come on to the international scene as well, I'm still very energetic, very excited about everything that happens. I'm just looking to utilize that as best as I can. I'm very excited about what's happening and, as a cricketer, that's all I can really do, look forward to every opportunity I get and perform as best as I can,"
