Team India loses top spot in ICC ODI Rankings to England after annual update

England last became no.1 ODI side in January of 2013.

England became the no.1 ODI team for the first time since Jan of 2013

England has become the new no.1 One Day International team in the ICC ODI Rankings after the annual update of the rankings. They pushed Team India to the second spot with 122 points having lost one point.

England, who last became the no.1 ODI side in 2013, earned eight points and moved to 125 points. England’s rise up the table is largely because of a forgettable 2014-15 season which saw them winning only seven out of 25 ODIs against other Full Members. The 2014-15 season has been dropped from the latest calculations while those from the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons are weighted at 50 percent.

South Africa dropped to the 3rd spot after losing four points and New Zealand is at the fourth spot. World champions Australia has lost eight points to go down to 104 in the fifth position and are only two points ahead of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 winners Pakistan, who have gained six points.
