The Black Caps might play in Pakistan for the first time in 15 years, as the New Zealand Cricket Board (NZC) are considering the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) request to play T20I matches in the country.

New Zealand are scheduled to play Pakistan in the three Tests, five One Day Internationals and three T20Is in November in UAE; but PCB wants NZC to send their team to Pakistan for the T20Is.

Besides New Zealand, Australia has also been requested by the PCB to play T20Is in Pakistan in October 2018.

However, Cricket Australia have yet to make any comment on the PCB’s request, but the New Zealand officials will take the final call after consulting with security providers, the government, and the players regarding the PCB’s request to travel Pakistan.

NZC spokesperson Richard Boock told Fairfax, “NZC has received a request from the PCB chairman for New Zealand to play in Pakistan. Not the whole series, just a couple of matches.”

Boock signed off by saying, “At the moment NZC is doing due diligence on the request and consulting with security providers, the government, and the players. We will respond to the PCB and we'll let everyone know when this process has been completed.”

Owing to security concerns, the Kiwis haven't played in Pakistan since 2003, when a bomb exploded outside the team's hotel in Karachi.
