Bangladesh's middle-order batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has revealed on Tuesday (1 May) secret behind his success that he achieved in a short span of time following his drastic failure in the New Zealand series last year.

The wicketkeeper-batsman has bounced back strongly in the T20I tri-series in Sri Lanka, where the right-hander has compiled 199 runs in March.

Rahim has revealed that he has worked with his childhood coach Nazmul Abedin on specific drills in order to use the bottom hand that efficiently helped him to succeed in the Lanka T20I tri-series. In the Nidahas Trophy, Rahim has scored at a strike rate of more than 140.

As per reports in Cricbuzz, Mushfiqur told reporters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, “In T20 cricket, you have to play some big shots and also take some calculated risks, and I worked with Sir (Nazmul) on those aspects of batting. There are some drills for the bottom hand that can help you to achieve success in a short span of time.”

He signed off by saying, “I worked on those things with Sir and I am very happy with the outcome. In future, if required, I will work on it more extensively by putting more time and (hard work) behind it. We often feel that [bottom hand] is only used to play lofted shots and big shots. But bottom hand can also be used to play shots with total control over it. It can be utilized for placement instead of using it for power hitting. I just tried to work on keeping the combination in the right proportion.”
