Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has been given the green signal by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to resume his offspin in the international arena after it has found his bowling action legal following remedial work and reassessment. It was announced by the ICC on Tuesday (1 May).

The 37-year-old off-break has worked with Carl Crowe, the spin bowling consultant, and Dr. Paul Herron, the biomechanics specialist, on his action at the Loughborough University last month.

On October last year, he was reported for a suspect bowling action during a one-day international against Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi, and it has now cleared by the ICC.

As per reports in PTI, ICC said in a release, “On 17 April, Hafeez underwent a re-assessment of his bowling action at the Loughborough University where it was revealed that the amount of elbow extension in his bowling action was within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations.”

It further reads, “The Match Officials are still at liberty to report Hafeez in the future if they believe he is displaying a suspect action and not reproducing the legal action from the reassessment. To assist the Match Officials, they will be provided with images and video footage of the bowler’s remodeled legal bowling action.”

Hafeez has played 50 Tests, 197 One Day Internationals and 78 T20 Internationals, in which he has amassed 3452 runs and 52 wickets, 6020 runs and 136 wickets, and 1619 and 46 wickets respectively.
