Pakistan has requested the Australian Cricket Board and New Zealand Cricket Board to play the T20 matches of their proposed series in the terror-affected country instead of UAE to help Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in bringing back international cricket back to Pakistan.

An official source from PCB has revealed to PTI on Monday (1 May) that the Board has made the request to both boards during last month’s ICC meet in Kolkata.

He said, “The two boards have been requested to play the T20 matches of their series in Pakistan to help support the PCB in bringing back international cricket to the country.”

Pakistan will host Australia for three Tests and a T20 International in UAE in October, while New Zealand will play three Tests, five One Day Internationals and three T20Is in November.

Without confirming whether Australian board and New Zealand agreed to play here and the result of the meeting, the official signed off by saying, “The PCB is trying to follow a slow and steady process to bring back international cricket fully to Pakistan.”

Meanwhile, the PCB successfully hosted the ICC World XI for a three-match T20 series in Lahore, and then managed to convince Sri Lanka to play the final T20 match of a series in Lahore, which went off successfully last year.

Even the West Indians have played three T20 matches in Karachi last month. Now, it will only time tell whether Australia and New Zealand will agree to play here or not.
