England’s paceman Toby Roland-Jones has been ruled out of the remaining 2018 English cricket season after suffering a recurrence of a back injury while playing county cricket for Middlesex.

The 30-year-old has suffered soreness in his back and due to which he was unable to bowl in the second half of Middlesex's County Championship game against Derbyshire.

Later, Toby underwent scans that revealed another stress fracture to his lower back, as he has already faced this fracture last September, and now he will need an extended period of rehabilitation.

 Roland-Jones played 102 First-class matches, in which he has taken 366 wickets and amassed 2488 runs while has 113 wickets and 553 runs in 71 List A matches with the Middlesex. He made his Test debut against South Africa in 2017 and has taken 17 wickets in his four Test appearances so far.

As per reports in PTI, Angus Fraser, Middlesex Cricket’s Managing Director of Cricket, said of Roland-Jones, “Everybody at the club is devastated for Toby and our immediate thoughts are with him, and that he makes a full recovery. I know how frustrating it can be to miss a summer of cricket through injury, having been through this myself on two occasions. The ray of light is that you do recover and you do come back stronger and even more determined.”

He has played a key role in Middlesex win in the County Championship title last year, as he has taken a hat-trick to beat the Yorkshire in final to clinch the title for his team.

Fraser signed off by saying, “Toby's absence is obviously a setback for Middlesex and he will be missed for more than just his bowling. He's a fantastic presence in the dressing room and has been one of the finest bowlers in the country in the past six or seven years.”
