There are chances of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 moving out from the country. The general elections may force the IPL to shift to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The country has previously hosted the first half of IPL in 2014.

Speaking to CricketNext, IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said: "With the Lok Sabha elections set to take place, UAE is definitely one of the options, but a final call will be taken after taking the view of all the stakeholders."

"We will take a call when the situation arises. UAE's time zone suits the Indian audience," said a BCCI official on the sidelines of ICC's meeting.

There is also a possibility of an early election, in which case the 12th edition of the IPL will be played in India only.

In 2009, the BCCI had announced South Africa hosts for the second season of the IPL. Though India did not host the second season, the format of the tournament remained unchanged from the 2008.
