Taking back the Orange Cap with his stunning second half-century of the IPL 2018 on Sunday’s encounter against the Mumbai Indians (MI), Sanju Samson is delighted with Rajasthan Royals’ win in a tensed IPL 2018 game guided by K Gowtham, calling his knock as a “lifetime experience”.

At the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, the Royals were almost down, but Samson and Ben Stokes took the side into the stable position by stitching a partnership of 72 runs for the third wicket.

Later, Gowtham played a big role in RR’s win over the defending champions by hitting 33 off 11 balls, hitting four boundaries and two sixes to beat MI by 3-wickets in Jaipur.

Meanwhile, Samson hailed Gowtham for his heroic with the willow against the MI, saying his innings was brilliant. He also said the RR's win over MI was the result of the team's complete effort.

As per reports in PTI, Samson told reporters after the match, “Gowtham was amazing, his innings was brilliant. The knock was a (once in a) lifetime experience not just for him, but for all of us.”

He further added, “Everyone’s contributions were important. Jofra Archer took three important wickets. Our bowlers did really well to restrict Mumbai Indians to 167/7. Even Stokes’ innings was important. The partnership that we had was crucial.”

Archer was declared as man-of-the-match, and Kerala man said, “I also feel K Gowtham was the man of the match but everyone's contribution is important. Archer too had contributed by taking three wickets and also hitting a few boundaries. I cannot comment on the selection of the man of the match.”

On being asked if the match was stretched too long, Samson said, “It was not delayed but I knew when we chase, bowling team is always under pressure. While chasing an innings, it is necessary to take the match as deep as possible. So I just wanted to take it to last overs but unfortunately, I got out. I think I should have finished it off. They also bowled well but these matches are finished like that only and it was Gowtham who did it for us.”

With RR is scheduled to play Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 29 and Samson signed off by suggesting, “We need to pull up our socks while fielding. We need to show energy on the field and practice hard.”
