One of the greatest Indian captains and Captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) –MS Dhoni showed a kind gesture by attending the formal naming of the main entrance of Rajiv Gandhi Stadium after late M.V. Sridhar, before taking up the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in an IPL 2018 match here on Sunday (22 April).

It is learned that Dhoni was requested by the Apex Council of Hyderabad Cricket Association headed by G. Vivekanand to cut the ribbon to officially mark the occasion, and former Indian captain accepted it.

Noteworthy, Dr. Maturi Ventak Sridhar was an Indian first-class cricketer hailing from Hyderabad, for which he made 6701 First-class runs, and later became the secretary of MVSR Engineering College here. He took his last breath on 30th October 2017 due to a heart attack.

Meanwhile, there were no speeches on the occasion, but with a quiet and peacefully paying tribute to the most successful directors ever Mr. Sridhar from the Metropolis. Dr. Sridhar’s wife and his mother were also present on the occasion here.

As per reports in Sportstarlive, Mr, Vivekanand said, “We thought the best tribute to Dr. Sridhar is with this kind of gesture. He was always a big source of support given his vast experience and knowledge of the game. We surely miss his expertise badly.”

Besides many Indian cricketers, Dhoni has also had a special bonding with Mr. Sridhar, as he was the manager of the Indian team during their Australian tour in 2014 when the infamous ‘Monkeygate’ scandal rocked the cricketing world.

Meanwhile, Chennai successfully beat the Hyderabad in a thrilling IPL 2018 match on Sunday by 4 runs and will next play Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on 25 April in Bengaluru.
