Cricket Australia (CA) has cleared the air of appointment of a new coach. They denied the reports of former Test opener Justin Langer replacing Darren Lehmann as the national coach.

CA spokesperson in an official statement said, “The process to be undertaken for the appointment of a new Australian men’s head coach will be discussed and agreed at the CA board meeting this Friday."

"No appointment has been made, and nor will any candidate be put to the board for ratification on Friday.

"We expect to have a clearer understanding of the approach and appointment timelines following this meeting."

Langer has previously coached both Western Australia and the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League. He is considered as one of the favorites for the role.

Earlier, a report by the Western Australian stated that Langer was set to be named to the lead role. The CA spokesman told the Western Australian that an appointment will most likely be made by the start of May.
