The Seventh South Asian Conference on Sanitation recently held at Islamabad, where it has decided to organize a “Green Climate Match” between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in a bid to public awareness, says PakObserver reports on Friday (13 April).

Sri Lankan Minister of Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage Abdul Rauff Hibbathul Hakim had a chat with Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan regarding the matter during the Convention, which was attended by over 700 global and nationwide delegations from 8 South Asian nations to discuss opportunities for mutual cooperation on water and climate change.

Pakistan’s Mushahidullah said that Sri Lanka and Pakistan have the least contribution in global carbon emission, and due to which the nations still face the crisis.

After the Conference, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have agreed to work together to spread awareness concerning the climate change issues to help the international forum, and for which they chose to play a cricket match, as it was one of the most loved games in the world, and public will certainly take a lesson from it.

It is also learned that they are also in talks with India to play the “Green Climate Match” with Sri Lanka and Pakistan, but they have yet to give any confirmation of the plan.

However, the proposed match whether goes underway or not and India will play or not, as their relation with Islanders are fine but are bitter with Pakistan due to cross-border activities, remains to be seen.
