Nearly 5 months later, Virat has opened up his media frenzy marriage and the negativity on various social media platforms for his wife – Anushka Sharma.

"I think it's only as difficult as you want it to be. I don't think we have focused on it at all. The intention was obviously to focus on what we were doing and if we look at public opinion and work according to that...I mean, you can't move forward, you know," Kohli said in an exclusive interview with India Today.

"I think nowadays with so much interactions happening on social media, and I know it's good till a certain extent but when it comes to people getting nasty," he added.

When asked if he is talking about the trolls getting personal, the Indian captain said, "Not personal, I mean, we don't pay attention to it, but I'm talking about the stuff you see in general nowadays. People getting nasty towards other people and actually enjoying negativity on social media is something very alarming."

Kohli has always been vocal about his relationship with Anushka. Even before his marriage, the Delhi lad had posted pictures of him with the Bollywood queen during the Valentines Day last year. Following his marriage, Virat had toured South Africa where he put on a series of batting exhibition and credited Anushka for being a constant motivation in his life.

“People who contribute off the field they deserve a lot of credit as well. My wife who keeps me motivated deserves a lot of credit. I want to thank my wife. She has been a huge factor. She has been criticized a lot, but she is one person who kept pushing me,” Kohli had said.

Virat is now gearing up to stamp his authority in the cash-rich Indian Premier League where he will lead the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise. Prior to the auction, he was retained by RCB for a whopping sum of INR 17 crores, which also made him the most expensive player in IPL history. RCB will start their campaign in IPL 2018 against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday (April 8).
