Indian cricket team led by Virat Kohli has not been given a go-ahead by the BCCI for the proposed Day-Night Test against the West Indies in October, as they don’t want to risk it without having a proper trial of it, wishing for having more exposure before heading into the Pink ball Test.

The Men in Blue were scheduled to play a couple of Test matches against the Windies and Australia later this year under the lights, but Kohli and Co. are not ready to play Pink ball Test "without having a proper trial of it" as it would offer an undue advantage to them especially against the  Aussies.

With the team’s wish to have more exposure before playing under the lights, the 1983 World Cup winning Indian captain Kapil Dev on Wednesday suggested that the Indian Premier League (IPL) is an ideal platform for India to get used to the pink ball if they are serious for Day-Night Test.

Kapil told Times of India, “If the Indian team wants to play day-night Test at home with the pink ball, they could use next year's IPL as the testing ground. If they are serious this is a good way to ensure that the day-night Test match happens.”

It is known that the IPL is a T20 format while Test is a different ball game and when asked how it will be the ideal platform for practice with the pink ball, Kapil replied, “If it's a question of getting used to the pink ball, IPL is a perfect way to do so.”

While Kohli and his team strictly opposed the Day/Night Tests in the recent future, but he has backed.

He signed off by saying, “Since the conditions in the sub-continent are mostly hot, day-night Test will surely work and it depends on how BCCI and the Indian team management take the call on the issue.”
