Trent Boult wins the prestigious Richard Hadlee medal for the year

Boult has been outstanding in the period for New Zealand.

He has bagged 77 wickets in the judging period.

Trent Boult the left arm fast bowler has been bestowed with the special award named after inarguably New Zealand's greatest ever, Sir Richard Hadlee, in the annual New Zealand Cricket awards. The enormity of Boult's achievement can be gauged from the fact that he outdid the last three year's winner of the award Kane Williamson for it.

The award is given to the best performing kiwi cricketer of the year and Boult has been magnificent in this period for the Blackcaps. He also received the Test cricketer of the year award, which must've been very pleasing for him as he recently bagged 15 wickets across the two test series versus England. Playing a lead role in winning the blackcaps their first test series versus the English at home since 1984. He got the award because of his stellar record in the period where he picked 77 wickets and proven himself to be an all conditions fast bowler.

The other winners included the right-hand middle-order stalwart Ross Taylor as the ODI cricketer of the year and Colin Munro the left-handed big-hitting opener as the T20I cricketer of the year. Both have been terrific for New Zealand in the respective format recently. Ross Taylor was also given the Redpath cup for the best first-class batting and Neil Wagner was presented the Winson cup for best first-class bowling.

Apart from these, left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel, who plays for Central Districts was given the award for being the best Domestic Cricketer. Anton Devcich the other cricketer from the same team won the Super Smash player of the year.

For the women's international team, vice-captain Sophie Devine received the awards in both ODIs and T20Is, she averaged 55 and 31 in the two formats respectively and also picked up 15 wickets. Maddy Green and Holly Huddleston were given the Ruth Martin and Phyl Blacker Cups for the best domestic batter and bowler award. Pat Malcon was awarded the Bert Sutcliffe Medal for his great services to the game in the country.
