J&K Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti thanks Sachin Tendulkar for sanctioning funds for building school in Kashmir

Sachin Tendulkar sanctioned 40 Lakh for building a school in Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister –Mehbooba Mufti, on Friday, expressed her gratitude to cricket legend and Rajya Sabha MP –Sachin Tendulkar for sanctioning funds for a school in North Kashmir.

Tendulkar has sanctioned over Rs 40 lakh from the MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds for construction of a school building in Kupwara district of Kashmir.

Imperial Educational Institute Drugmulla, which has around 1,000 students in classes 1 to 10, is currently the only school in the region.

On Friday (30 March), J&K CM went on social media to thank the Master blaster for his efforts. She wrote on her official Twitter handle, “Thankful to @sachin_rt for using his MPLAD funds for the construction of a school building in Kashmir. Even off the field, he continues to inspire us all.”

This fund will be used in the construction of a school building with 10 classrooms, four laboratories, administrative block, six toilets and an assembly/prayer hall.

In a letter to the DM and District Collector (Office of Mumbai Suburban District, District Planning Committee), Tendulkar mentioned that the Imperial Educational Institute Drugmulla, which was established in 2007, had requested for funds and "the request must be scrutinized".

As per India TV, Tendulkar wrote, “Further to the scrutiny, technical, financial and administrative sanctions may be issued within 75 days of the receipt of this letter. The sanctioned letter should be approved and completed if they are compliant under the guidelines of MPLAD scheme.”
